Some people think that certain numbers have magic power to
bring good luck for them. For example, our date of birth sometimes is regarded
as a lucky number. So many people like the number that is similar to their date
or month or year of birth.
However, some other people hold the opinion that the number
have no connections with the luck. The consider that the opinion above is only
some kind of superstition without any scientific basis. And some counter
examples are also given to support their ground, which are not rare in our
daily life. For examples a restaurant opened on a so called lucky day went
bankrupt, or two cars with lucky plates number bumped together.
I agree with them on the second opinion. The old saying goes
that god help those who help themselves, which means that your fortune is not
at the mercy of anybody, but yourself. So when you believe you are the master
of your own, I do not think you have good fortune.
How about your ipinion?
The next teks is “two day weekends”
The advantages of two-day weekends are too much to be
listed. Obviously, we are given enough time to have a good rest, which can
promise you another energetic week. What`s more, a two-day weekend provides us
comparatively more free time to do what we like.
However, disadvantages of two-day weekends are also obvious.
Some people stay up entertaining, which makes them even more tired than usual,
and sometimes, affects others. And some people find nothing active to do,
except indulging in watching TV programs all day, so the weekends seems as long
as a century due to dullness.
In spending a meaningful weekend, I think people should plan
their leisure scientifically. It is a key point not to waste two-day weekends,
especially for students. After one-week hard work, we need a rest to recharge
the barrel, and recreation, especially outside activities, to wake up our
potential energy. Certainly, we still should spend some time reviewing and
previewing the lessons for next week.
